Fashion Styles For Women Over 50

Fashion Styles For Women Over 50 – In today’s post, I’m going to share how more women can find the perfect places to shop, regardless of age. I discovered stores that offer a wide variety of sizes, styles for all body types, and clothing that allows stylish women to continue to express their personal style.

I started this mission a few years after my 50th birthday. One day I found out that I was over 50. I have to say that over 50 is a surprising thing – maybe you can imagine. When I started thinking I was over 50, I wondered if I was “too old” to wear certain clothes that I wouldn’t have considered buying months before.

I entered a space where I was no longer sure of my personal style – which made me no longer sure of who I really was as a person. I didn’t want to dress “too young,” but I wasn’t ready for muumuus, elastic belts, and orthotics just yet. And, unfortunately, these were exactly the fashion models that started to appear in the catalogs sent to my house.

Am I Too Old To Wear That?

Many of the clothing stores that cater to women over 50 offer a look that screams geriatrics – or at least an old woman – with matching outfits made of polyester, shapeless silhouettes, appliqués and unusually bright colors, an abundance of animal prints – as if it was the clothes. made for a grown up version of a small child. Although disappointing, it’s not surprising that the over 50 age group is often misunderstood by designers and marketers.

I had just turned fifty, not 90! I just wanted to wear stylish, “normal” clothes. (I’m 62 now and still am!)

The experience made me look not only to update my personal style, but also to find out where to shop for over 50 clothes. Today I’m going to share my discoveries – the best clothing stores for modern women who happen to be “mature.” and the best brands to try so you can find clothes that fit well, are slim, modern and a little according to trend.

I’ll get straight to the point here – you can shop anywhere you can find clothes you like and fit your body and budget. This could include the men’s or boys’ department, consignment and vintage stores, any store in the Mall or online, and local stores. There is no rule anywhere that says once you reach a certain age you can’t shop at any store you want.

Now that we’ve cleared that up, let’s talk a little about where you’re most likely to find clothes you like, fit your lifestyle, fit right, and want to wear.

You might enjoy a booklet I made called Fashion Questions to Ask Before You Shop (at the bottom of this post) before we go too far down the road. I wrote the questions specifically because I needed to clarify that my lifestyle has definitely changed as well as being 50 and now 60 years old. This meant that I needed different types of clothes than I was used to buying and maybe going outside my comfort zone and trying some new stores when I wanted to add new items to my wardrobe.

For example, I rarely need office clothes anymore. Since I work from home, I don’t need dresses or work suits. However, I can use blazers paired with a nice pair of jeans or trousers – if I’m going on a personal date. By asking questions about my current lifestyle, I realized that I needed to add items to my wardrobe that were casual chic or “new” business casual. Although I might shop in some of the stores I did before, I can get used to stores that carry more trendy or casual pieces that I can use to update my wardrobe.

Your personal style may have changed too. I found that as I got older, I love classic pieces and I want a little more sophistication while still being casual. A tall order, but I call this type of look “modern classic style” – a combination of the classics and a few modern elements mixed together. When I started mapping out my style, I started thinking about the stores that were most likely to have clothes that fit my style, and then I went shopping. It was a bit of trial and error, but it helped me “find myself” in terms of fashion and lifestyle.
