Makeup Tips For Women Over 50

Makeup Tips For Women Over 50 – I shared my makeup routine on Instagram after getting so many questions about my brows, makeup, and hair. So I decided to host them all permanently here on my blog. So today I’m sharing my earth-shattering makeup tips for women over 50. In fact, I call my look “real makeup” for women over 50. Because I’m a simple girl and my makeup bag is pretty minimal. So let’s get to it!

First of all, I have to say that you can wear all the makeup you want, but if you don’t take care of your skin, you won’t be doing yourself any favors in the long run.

If you need help deciding on a good anti-aging skin care routine, I will soon share mine that has given me great results. But in the meantime, THIS post is pretty accurate, although I now use a different cleanser, moisturizer, and eye cream.

Before we get into the makeup, I need to set the background. I always wake up with Frownies on my forehead. Have you heard of them? It’s so cool!!

These strips help reduce lines and wrinkles, but without invasive procedures like Botox. They actually retrain the facial muscles in a much cheaper way.

They encourage you to use it every day for the first 30 days to start retraining those facial muscles and then you can come back as you start to see results. But you will see results from the very first morning!

After removing the Frownies, cleansing, and adding my serums and moisturizer, I always put on a good sunscreen.

Sophisticated Makeup Tips For Women Over 50

It’s a very good idea to use sunscreen every day, especially if you use a good retinol or retinoid to exfoliate your skin to keep it looking young. You don’t want to damage that delicate baby skin in the sun, so be careful.

After tinted sunscreen I use a little foundation for coverage. My favorite is the one I’ve been using for years but can’t switch. If you know an Arbonne consultant you can ask her to order for you…that’s why I don’t like network marketing…because I can’t link it for you.

However, my second pick that I was surprised at how much I liked is the CC+ Cream Full Coverage Foundation by ItCosmetics. I actually thought it was almost comparable to Arbonne which I can’t relate!

I stopped buying eyeshadow palettes because I would end up using one or two colors and the rest would go to waste!

Instead, I found the colors I really liked and now buy them in singles. I discovered that Ulta has a generic store brand that is actually equal in quality to the more expensive eyeshadows!

So the base color I put all over my lid is Ulta Beauty Eye Shadow in Coconut.

After covering my entire lid with the coconut base, I apply Ulta Matte Eye Shadow in Charcoal Brown to the outer corners of my eyes. Wiping the creases of my eyes like a wiper and then going into the center of my lid making almost a “V” is how I apply it.

This is! Two colors. I don’t mind mixing with different colors or changing my makeup to match the seasons. It just doesn’t matter to me.

I use MAC Cosmetics Technakohl Liner for eyes and watermark. The cheaper ones just don’t do what this one does. It is of a much higher quality and glides along my lid much better than other pencils. This is important to me because I have mature skin, and some pencils don’t glide over the crease very easily, creating a kind of “bumpy” look.

This is pure magic and I would spend the extra money on it because it also lasts longer.

I usually apply a little on my lower lid, inside the watermark. But I only go in about a third to half of the outer corner.

Here is one of my all-time favorite products and the best makeup tips for women over 50! When I found out about the Brow Trio, it changed my life for the better!!!

I used to draw my eyebrows, but I never knew if I was doing it “right”.

Comes with a stencil pack to help you find your own individual brow shape. Then with the sponge and the pomade simply “stencil” on your eyebrows! But the best part is that they last all day and don’t rub off!! However, when it’s time to wash your face, the pomade comes off easily with your cleanser.

If you’re looking for a great brow conditioner to keep those brows in place, I highly recommend the Benefit 24 Hour Brow Conditioner.

From the eyebrows I usually go to the concealer. However, I have been on a commitment to using concealer lately. I haven’t used it that much and I don’t know why.

But when I do, I use Tarte Shape Tape in Fair Neutral. I will place just the tiniest dot under my eye to brighten the eye area, being careful not to get it too close to my eye and sit in the creases. Then, blending with a beauty blender, I take the color under my eye where I want it to open and brighten.

After the concealment comes the outline. I have a simple way of contouring my face. I use the Benefit Hula Bronzer with the perfect little chisel brush. I sculpt right under my cheekbones to create more defined cheekbones. Then I use it above my forehead and just below my temples to give me that sun-kissed look.

That’s all. I don’t apply it under my jaw like many makeup artists tell you. I think it looks good in photos or online photos and selfies, but in real life???

It just makes a painted look in my opinion. Same with down on the nose, it’s supposed to create a slimmer nose..seems silly to me. To most people I’ve seen.

Must Know Makeup Tips For Older Women

You don’t have to spend a lot of money on blush. I use the brand Maybelline FitMe in the color 15 nude. It’s a great color! Not too pink, not too peachy. Just beautiful. Ha! I don’t know how else to describe it. But it’s cheap, doesn’t hurt my sensitive skin, and gives good color. It also lasts a long time.

Let’s get serious here. I will be honest. The two best mascaras in the world are Arbonne whatever (ugh…can’t link) and Benefit They’re Real Lengthening Mascara! Nothing beats them, in my opinion!

Remember this pro tip: brush the lashes from the inner corner to the inner corner. Brush the outer corner lashes outwards. Brush the middle lashes straight up. It’s a simple makeup trick and seems obvious, but when you do it, it gives the most beautiful eyelash shape EVER!!!

I usually skip mascara on my lower lashes because as I get older I think it looks more youthful and doesn’t draw eyes away.

But having said that, I will occasionally add it to just the outer corner of my lower lashes for a little more drama.

Finally, finish with a good setting spray to keep your makeup cool and fresh. I’m hooked on the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray from a specialist at Ulta. It has hyaluronic acid that leaves your skin hydrated, renewed and glowing! This is a favorite product of mine and keeps my makeup looking great all day.

One of the things I initially forgot to share is what I’ve been using on my lips lately. I am NOT wearing lipstick! It’s just glamor to me.

Lately I’ve been loving the color Too Faced Hangover Pillow Lip Treatment in Cocoa Kiss. It’s a great neutral color and it hydrates and plumps your lips temporarily too. There’s a lot in a 2-pack on HSN right now, right here.
